Got a bag full of unused toys? Here’s what you need to do

Toys are always hard to get rid of. Every one of us has that one favorite toy from our childhood that we can never forget. That one which accompanied us through all our odds, basically everything, everywhere – I think you can relate to it and missing it right now 😊.

Do you know what was my favorite toy from my childhood?

It was a board game called ‘Game Of India’. That was the first board game ever I played in my life. Until then I had no clue about something like a Board Game. I grew up in a small hilly town playing with the same usual toys and outdoor games. But this ‘Game of India’ board game was real fun – that was the 1st time I got introduced to something called trading 😊, business, capitals, and cities of India, etc. It was quite an intriguing pastime to keep me glued to it.

Being there for a child is the most noble thing a toy can do – Woody.

Sometimes due to various reasons like accessibility, environment, etc., kids in the interior areas are left out of the current trend and technology that’s driving the rest of the world. I was fortunate enough to have such people around me who were my doors to the outside world.

Here is your opportunity to be a Santa Claus for the kids of Spiti Valley.

Spiti Valley – every road-tripper’s dream destination, one of the most treacherous roads on the planet, a place with the highest post office on earth, the highest inhabited village in the world, and the list goes on. It’s one of the most beautiful places that I have visited in my life, as you can see here.

Planet Spiti Foundation was founded by Portia Putatunda in August 2021 catering to the learning needs of the children of Spiti Valley in Himachal Pradesh. Portia was accoladed with the Young Achievers Shiksha Bharati Award 2021 for this. This is a Non-Profit organization running entirely on a volunteering basis. They have a Learning Centre conducting tuitions, workshops, crafts, drawing classes, etc. for 45 kids (age group of 2-13 yrs) at Kaza, Himachal Pradesh.

So let’s help the foundation by re-using & re-sharing your toys and making the planet a better place to live. As they say - When You Refuse To Reuse It’s the Earth You Abuse. Recycle, reuse, re-share is the way to sustainability. What’s better than to see your child’s fav toy bringing a smile to another child’s face.

If you have a rack full of toys and don’t know what to do about it. That spiderman action figure is of no interest anymore to your child, but that’s the only chance for a kid back in the mountains to get to know the Marvel Heroes stories. That old kitchen set lying there may be too outdated for your grown-up teen to play with – no worries you can always send it to someone who doesn’t even know if there exists a toy kitchen set.

Any toy like blocks, soft toys, board games, dolls houses, etc. that you think will be apt for these kids, please send them across. You can courier or speed-post these to their Kaza Learning Center in Spiti. Of course, it will take quite a time to reach them, but for sure the kids are going to love them.

Please ping me (@gospels_of_mountainism) or Portia (@portiaputatunda) on Instagram for the postal address.

You can also leave a note below in the comments section with your contact and I will get back to you with the address.

Let’s make this 75th Republic Day of India special for the kids of Spiti by sending them a token of love from all over India.

Hope you are convinced by now and have started sorting out the toys to send, if you are not – here I come with another trick 😊.

It’s my birthday on 26th Jan – send them a toy as your birthday wishes to me😊 That will be my best birthday wish ever!!!
